Season of walks from Hounslow Heritage Guides begins
Chiswick Square
The season of local guided walks begins with a tour of Chiswick Village on Sunday 2 June.
Hear of Chiswick’s famous boat builders, and discover an Elizabethan timber framed building along with London’s smallest square, possibly the setting for the opening scene of Thackeray’s book, Vanity Fair.
Chiswick walks generally start from St Nicholas Church steps, Chiswick Mall / Church Street although the Strand on the Green walk begins at Cafe Rouge.
Hounslow Heritage Guides hold an annual programme of walks exploring local heritage. These are held on Sundays (and occasional bank holidays) between June and October.
All walks are taken at a gentle pace amd cost £3 (children are free) and no booking is required. Meet at 2:30pm at the steps to St. Nicholas Church at the junction of Church Street and Chiswick Mall.
They are led by voluntary guides, all members of the Hounslow Heritage Guides Association, now in its 24th year. Private walks and illustrated talks to choice are also available by prior arrangement.
