Season of walks from Hounslow Heritage Guides continues
The season of local guided walks continues this weekend with a tour of Chiswick Mall on Sunday 17 July. This is a linear walk which explores the industrial heritage and imposing mansions of the riverside promenade, finishing at the Hammersmith border. Hear of Chiswick’s famous boat builders, and discover an Elizabethan timber framed building along with London’s smallest square, possibly the setting for the opening scene of Thackeray’s book, Vanity Fair. This is the only time this particular walk is taking place in this year's programme. Hounslow Heritage Guides hold an annual programme of walks exploring local heritage. These are held on Sundays (and occasional bank holidays) between June and October. All walks are taken at a gentle pace amd cost £3 (children are free) and no booking is required. Meet at 2:30pm at the steps to St. Nicholas Church at the junction of Church Street and Chiswick Mall. They are led by voluntary guides, all members of the Hounslow Heritage Guides Association, now in its 24th year. Private walks and illustrated talks to choice are also available by prior arrangement.
