There is another line up of top comedy talent at the Headliners Comedy Club in Chiswick this week. On Friday 26 and Saturday 27 October acts include John Moloney, Sol Bernstein, Tania Edwards and Addy Van Der Borgh John Moloney is an English born stand-up comedian of Irish descent who won the All Ireland Fleadh as an accordionist when he was 14. He started on the comedy circuit as the the ‘angry young accordionist’ and was part of the Red Wedge tour in the 1980s. He has since largely dropped the musical part of the act and is now regularly featured on the BBC’s The Stand Up Show and appeared in the most recent series of Grumpy Old Men. He is appearing in the Saturday show only.
Tania Edwards is a stand-up comedian and writer. Credits include Stand Up For The Week, Twit of the Year (Channel 4), Mock the Week and The Unbelievable Truth (Radio 4). She recently supported Katherine Ryan on her sell out tour. Also appearing this weekend is Sol Bernstein, a foul mouthed ‘elderly’ Jewish comedian part Mel Brooks, part Alf Garnett, who is the creation of Steve Jameson. On Friday only Funmbi Omotayo is appearing. He won the Leicester Square Comedian Of The Year 2012 and Amused Moose Laugh-Off award. He was also a finalist in the Brighton Comedy Festival Squawker award and the Laughing Horse new act competition the same year.
Addy van der Borgh is a LAMDA trained comedian who often incorporates mime into his show. He appeared on the ‘Stand-up Show’ on BBC1 after only one year as a comedian and has subsequently appeared on ‘Live at the Comedy Store’ for Comedy Central, ‘Live at Jongleurs’ and ‘The World Stands Up’ for Sky TV and the BBC3 series from Baby Cow Productions, ‘Brain Candy’. For Saturday the best way to get tickets is book online for £12.50 plus booking fee. At the time of writing there were still some tickets for both performances. Advance booking strongly recommended as the events regularly sell out particularly when well known acts are on.
