Make sure you get your submissions in the post by this Monday
The deadline for entries to the Chiswick Book Festival Young People's Poetry Competition 2017 is this Monday 5 June. The Young People's Poetry Competition is free and open to young people aged between 8-12 years: Young people are invited to write a poem at home, or at school, on any theme that inspires them. Now in its seventh year, the competition was entered by pupils from over 11 local schools last year and even more are set to enter this year. The only stipulations are that each poem should be the child's own work (with no parental help) and is limited to a maximum of 25 lines. Poems should be hand-written, although typed copies are acceptable for Year 7 entries. Entry is by post only and poems must be sent with the application form (see below). Entries postmarked 5 June will be accepted. Entry by email is not accepted. Please send your entries to: Young People's Poetry Competition 2017, c/o Neighbour Net, The Courtyard, 4 Evelyn Road, Chiswick, W4 5JL. You can enter via your school or individually by post (but please take a photocopy of your poem as entries cannot be returned). Download an individual application form and rules and poetry writing tips here.
