Readers put Rosamund Lupton's 'Sister' top of their favourite titles
Since the launch of Richard and Judy’s WHSmith Book Club in September, readers have been voting for their favourite of the eight titles. The winner, announced by WHSmith, is Sister by debut author and Chiswick resident Rosamund Lupton. The novel also broke records to become the fastest selling title by a new writer in WHSmith’s 200 year history with over a quarter of a million copies sold to date. Rosamund Lupton said, “I'm so grateful to all the readers who voted for Sister. The other books are all wonderful reads so it's a real honour to be chosen”. Rosamund lives in Chiswick with her husband and two sons. She read English Literature at Cambridge University. After a variety of jobs in London, including copywriting and reviewing for the Literary Review, she was a winner of Carlton Television's new writers' competition and was selected by the BBC for a place on their new writers' course. She was also invited to join the Royal Court Theatre's writers group. She was a script writer for television and film, writing original screenplays, until her two children were born. She is now a full-time novelist with a second book to be published in 2011. You can meet Rosmund on Thursday January 27th 2011, starting at 6.00pm at Sofa Workshop in Chiswick,.
