Chiswick House & Gardens Cascade Back In Action | |||||
Historic water feature flowing freely following repairs
The Cascade was one of the later additions to Lord Burlington’s garden, erected about 1738, the Cascade, an entrancing waterfall descending a series of rock steps through three archways, is believed to have been designed by William Kent and inspired by designs Burlington and Kent had seen in Italian Renaissance gardens. Out of action since September 2018, CHGT has worked in collaboration with English Heritage to get the cascade working again – involving new electrical supplies, a bespoke pump and internal works to Chiswick House to house the controls. "We are delighted it is once again in full working order for our visitors to enjoy," said a spokesperson.
