Celebrity judges include designer Cath Kidston and TV’s Julian Bennett
This year’s Chiswick House Gardens Dog Show sponsored by Edward d’Arc estate agents will take place on Sunday September 27th in the cricket pitch area of the grounds, with official show opening by Councillor Paul Lynch, Mayor of Hounslow at 10.30 a.m. with his dog, Meg. Organised by CHOW and supported by Chiswick House Friends, Chiswick House Gardens Trust and Hounslow Council, last year’s event was judged to have been very successful with estimated visitor numbers in excess of 1000 during the day. New features at this year’s event include the introduction of classes such as Best Young Handler and the Top Hat and Tails Fancy Dress competition. Visitors should be on the lookout for celebrity judges including designer Cath Kidston and her dog Stanley and TV’s Julian Bennett, together with one or two special surprise guests. The Doggy Dash will also be making a repeat showing. Among the new classes this year, Top Hat dry cleaners will be sponsoring the Top Hat & Tails fancy dress competition. Visitors can pre-register on-line for classes at www.chowgroup.co.uk/registration.html. The number of organisations supporting the event has increased substantially, and will include Chiswick Pets, Outsider Tart cake-makers, Doggy Days doggy treats bakery, the Labradoodle Trust, the Dogs Trust, Hearing Dogs for the Deaf, the Mayhew Animal Home, Lily’s Kitchen, the RSPCA, the RNLI, Breech House gifts, Natural Pet Choice, the Chiswick House Kitchen Garden Association, Korukoru jewellers, Pet Portraits and Funky Mutts. Face to Face will be offering face painting services. The new team at Southfields Grooming will be attending as well and have kindly sponsored this year’s show programme. The Hounslow Animal Wardens Service will also be attending and Capable Canines will be organising agility and heelwork to music displays. London Woof will host a free dog crèche. Show rings will be sponsored for the second year running by CJ Hall Veterinary Surgery of Acton Lane, Acton. Refreshments include a barbecue and licensed bar, with teas, coffees and ice creams available throughout the day. Why not leave your pet in the capable hands of the London Woof dog crèche while you enjoy something from the barbecue ? The show opens at 10.30 and will conclude at 3.30 with the Best in Show judging. Fuller Smith & Turner have kindly donated the prize for this year’s winner (10 cases of beer,) and Pet Portraits have donated a commission for the Reserve Best in Show. Prizes will be presented by Derek Fletcher of Edward d’Arc together with Mr George NIssen of Chiswick House Friends. Come and join us at the show – a great day out for all the family including the dog, also providing a safe environment to introduce younger family members to canine friends !
