Awarded grant for free educational sessions in the Kitchen Garden

Chiswick House and Gardens Trust has received a £3000 grant from the Kew Horticultural Society to fund free education sessions for schools in their Kitchen Garden.
These activities will take place in the autumn school term, September – December 2019. Kew Horticultural Society, through giving their excess reserves to local community groups, aim to further interest in gardening and horticultural and earth science generally.
Similarly, Chiswick House and Gardens Trust strives to advance education (both historical and environmental) through all that it does to care for and maintain the 65-acre Estate and 18th-Century Villa.
The Trust is delighted to have forged this partnership with Kew Horticultural Society, which will see similar agendas meet harmoniously to the benefit of young people across the local boroughs. Whilst the Trust does currently welcome school-children, this has unfortunately been on a mostly paid basis since the ending of a multi-year grant from a grant-giving charity in 2017.
"We are delighted to be able to offer free sessions to schools again, welcoming them to the Kitchen Garden and teaching the pupils to plant, grow and harvest produce, visit the bee-hives and learn more about the plant and wildlife that call the Kitchen Garden their home.
