Bedford Park Festival To Be Held Online This Year |
A 'virtual' Green Days with all the usual events will also take place The Bedford Park Festival has been affected by the COVID-19 lockdown, but the organisers are determined to find alternative ways to ensure the 54th Festival goes ahead in 2020. This year they will hold a virtual Festival online, BPFatHome, which will take place from Friday June 12th to Sunday June 28th 2020. Ealing Council has cancelled all public events until the end of July, so Green Days weekend will not take place on Acton Green as usual. However, GreenDaysatHome will open the Festival, with lots of the usual events, albeit in a different form. There will be a Children's Fancy Dress Competition, a Craft Fair in some form, Bandstand performances online, and an Open Air Mass. They will also be sharing lots of photographs of 50 Years of Green Days, decade by decade. The Bedford Park Festival Photographic Exhibition that weekend will take place online and the following weekend, they plan to support Artists (Staying) At Home as usual. Festival organiser Torin Douglas (above) comments: "We also hope there will be concerts and talks and other events online, if not in person (depending on how long the lockdown and social distancing lasts)." If you have suggestions, and are interested in any helping the virtual Festival in any way, please share them on their social media platforms or contact Nicola Chater nicola@global-marketing-solutions.com or Jane McCabe janemccabe@hotmail.co.uk The Bedford Park Festival is run by St Michael & All Angels Church, supported by dozens of local people and businesses. It was set up in 1967 to foster a sense of community, celebrate the arts, and raise money for urgent repairs to the Church. Since then it has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for charities. See www.bedfordparkfestival.org for full event and booking details. Planning continues for events further ahead, including the Chiswick Book Festival (Thursday September 10th to Monday 14th).
