Music on My Mind, a new community-driven project has been set up in partnership with Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing, and Hounslow (HFEH) Mind charity and electronic music brand Roland at the legendary Metropolis Recording Studios in Chiswick.
Music on My Mind will welcome affiliate musicians and music industry experts to Roland’s Artist Centre at Metropolis to host a series of workshops for young people (ages 16-25) from across the capital and beyond.
The joint music and mental health partnership will support young people’s mental health through music and enable those from every background to explore music as a means of self-expression, build their confidence and self-esteem, learn new skills, and excel in what they are passionate about. The project provides early intervention to promote positive mental health and wellbeing for children and young people and promotes careers in music and the creative industries.
The workshops will aim to improve the mental health of young people
More information can be found at HFEH Mind’s website, but Music on My Mind workshops will begin running in Autumn and will include appearances from:
• P R G R S H N – UK producer whose credits include Stormzy, Tiana Major and Wretch 32
• Saoirse – DJ/Producer and founder of Body Movement Festival
• Joy Anonymous – London-based electronic music collective
The project launch saw a very special panel doubleheader with musician, Pauli Lovejoy, singer/songwriter, Janet Devlin, DJ/Producer, Charlie Dark, Professor Marcus Smith, singer/songwriter, Anna B Savage and singer/Mind practitioner, Roslyn Adonteng discussing topics from drumming to maintaining physical health to staying healthy while touring, to how music can facilitate the creation of communities. It also featured talks around coping mechanisms from Mind and a performance from Anna B Savage. You can see what went down here.
Roland’s Europe Group’s Head of Artist Relations, Jamie Franklin said of the announcement, “We’re so glad to be working with HFEH Mind and Metropolis Studios to bring together a host of different people from various parts of the music industry. By hosting events such as this we’re able to inspire budding musicians, managers, engineers and so many other future success stories within the music industry.”
