British Long Jump Olympian Greg Rutherford donned his wellies and showed off his jumping skills to inspire children and families to take part in a Save the Children fundraiser at Dukes Meadows.

The father-of-two was joined by 46 children and their families in an attempt to set a world record for the most children and families jumping in a puddle. The event is called Peppa Pig's Muddy Puddle Walk.

To celebrate 15 years of the nation’s favourite little piggy, Entertainment One’s (eOne) Peppa Pig, and to mark Save the Children’s centenary, almost 100 people gathered to join in the world record attempt. Even Peppa Pig was in attendance!

Greg Rutherford said: “In many ways I’m just like Daddy Pig - I’m a champion jumper, a father of two and very competitive, so I jumped at the chance to take part in this world record attempt. It was incredible to see all the kids splashing about in the giant puddle – everyone had a great day and we set a new world record! Save the Children is a cause very close to my heart so I’m keen to encourage children and families to do what they can to support the charity’s work. My boys love exploring the world around them and splashing in muddy puddles, so the Muddy Puddle Walk is a great way for them to help other children. Best of all the money raised will help give children around the world a better future.”

Last year families and nurseries that took part in the event helped to raise £225,000 for Save the Children. Since its launch in 2017, Peppa Pig's Muddy Puddle Walk has generated a fundraising total of almost half a million pounds. This year, Save the Children hopes that even more people will sign up, take part and donate.
