More consultations as Hounslow Council says it is responding to demand
Hounslow Council is to consult on a CPZ for the remaining areas of Riverside ward which until now have been without controlled parking. The Council says that due to increasing demand for controlled parking in the ward, it is extending consultation to the remaining sections of the ward, including the area known as 'the Remainder Riverside' and the area near Chiswick Station. The response to the previous consultation indicated that there is clear support for the introduction of a CPZ in the north-western section of the consultation boundary, referred to as the Riverside ‘area’ . The response also indicated support for a part day scheme which operates Monday through to Friday. In light of this support, Hounslow Council says it is
recommended that further ‘detailed design’ consultation be undertaken
with residents of Ernest Gardens, Grove Park Gardens, Grove Park Road,
Grove Park Terrace, Herbert Gardens, Kinnaird The responses received from the south-eastern
section of the consultation indicate that the It is further recommended that, if the CPZ proposals are
advanced to the ‘detailed design’ As with the Riverside ‘area’, if a scheme is progressed for further consultation in the Chiswick Station ‘area’, the proposals should focus on either a split or part day scheme operational Monday through to Friday. Park CPZ, namely Burlington Lane, This is the latest in the ongoing saga of piecemeal CPZs being introduced into Grove Park, with displacement parking now leading to areas demanding some control over parking in their streets. This is despite the overall rejection of CPZ for Grove Park some years ago. opponents say it is being introduced by "creep". The matter is to be decided by delegated decision and it will come up for discussion at the Chiswick Area Forum on Tuesday, 13 November.
