Campaigners To Make Formal Request To Mayor of London

Second U-turn sought from Boris for Piccadilly Line stop at Turnham Green

The campaign trail to get the Piccadilly Line to stop at Turnham Green is a well worn path but Chiswick residents along with local Councillors continue to persevere.

Cllr Gary Malcolm told ChiswickW4.com, "Residents are rightly demanding that the Piccadilly line should serve Turnham Green throughout the day.

“Local Liberal Democrats have campaigned consistently on this issue for many years and even got the Mayor of London to initially agree to what would have been a trial to have more than just the early morning and late evening stops. But then he changed him mind again.

He continued, "This is something residents in the area want strongly. This would benefit many thousands of residents in the locality. So now we need to keep up the pressure. And we need as many people as possible to show Transport for London and the Mayor of London that Chiswick residents need the Piccadilly Line to stop here."

To this end, Cllr Malcolm has organised an event that will take place at 11.00am on Saturday 27th March outside Turnham Green tube station at which a formal request will be made for a meeting with the Mayor of London Boris Johnson so the issue can be discussed.

At the event Gary Malcolm will hand over a document to Greater London Assembly Member Caroline Pidgeon detailing the reasons why this should happen. Ms Pidgeon will turn pass these to Boris Johnson.

The more people who attend the more effective the event will be.
