A significant number of passengers using Kew Bridge train station have been overcharged after a problem developed with the station's machines.

Transport for London ( TFL), have said that any passengers who were overcharged for journeys started at Kew Bridge station, will be refunded automatically.

The transport company said the problem which was causing people to be overcharged has now been rectified.

One local resident said she had been charged over double for trips to central London between 7 and 16 January.

A spokesperson for TfL told Chiswickw4.com that affected passengers would be refunded.

"I can confirm the issue has been resolved and we are in the process of working to automatically refund any customers who were affected by this over the next week."

The company would not confirm how many people had been overcharged.
