Double Whammy for Chiswick Commuters During Rail Strike
Local tube services may be disrupted for six days along with trains

Chiswick commuters hoping to use London Underground as an alternative to the trains during the forthcoming strikes may be disappointed.
The signalling of tube services is taken over by Network Rail employees from Gunnersbury station and they will be on strike for three days as opposed to just one for London Underground workers. The strikes taking place on Tuesday 21 June, Thursday 23 June and Saturday 25 June are likely to result in significant disruption to services the following day due to the need to get trains into the right place so there will be six days of disruption.
London Underground workers are striking on 21 June and there will be a very limited service that day but tube users were hoping that their service would be relatively unaffected for the remainder of the industrial action.
However, the Richmond branch of the District Line will be hit by the signallers' strike and there is a possibility that London Overground services to Richmond will also be interrupted.
The latest information we have from Transport for London is that services on the Wimbledon and Richmond branch of the District line to operate between 7:30am and 6:30am on 23 and 25 June. It is understood that a District Line service to Ealing will be maintained meaning that trains will still be stopping at Turnham Green and Chiswick Park
London Underground services generally are expected to resume after 8am on Wednesday 22 June and return to a more regular service until mid-morning.
On Thursday 23 June there is strike action on national rail services but not London Underground but the possibility is that the Richmond branch and London Overground services will be affected. It is thought likely that disruption on these services will continue to mid-morning on the following day.
London Overground services will run a reduced service from 7:30am on Thursday 23 June and Saturday 25 June. TfL advises you complete your journey on this line by 6pm on these days.
A third day of strike action takes place on national rail services on Saturday 25 June which is also likely to impact the Richmond branch and London Overground services with disruption through to Sunday morning. There is also a planned closure of the South Circular Road between Kew Bridge and Chiswick Roundabout on Saturday which, if it proceeds, is likely to cause significant traffic congestion in the area.
South Western Railway has announced a provisional strike time-table which will see four trains an hour running between Windsor & Eton Riverside and Waterloo stopping at Chiswick and Kew Bridge. It is expected these services will be extremely busy especially in the morning and possibly will be full to capacity by the time they arrive at Chiswick.
The Waterloo & City line will also be closed on strike days.
