A huge number of people from the Chiswick area took the opportunity to bid a final farewell to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth as her funeral cortege passed along the A4. Crowds were three or four people deep on the southern edge of the road with more people looking on from the other side, Chiswick having been split in half by the day by the closure of roads and underpasses on Monday 19 September. Some had foregone the opportunity to watch the funeral itself to secure a good vantage point. This did require a lengthy wait, but a good humoured but respectful attitude prevailed throughout.
