Paving Wars Erupt Again In Chiswick | ||||
Locals in Devonshire Road want ' like with like' paving on street
Locals in Devonshire Road have presented a petition to Hounslow Council asking that paving be used to resurface the street instead of tarmac. A total of 65 signatures were sent to last week's Borough Council meeting , requesting that paving be used to remain consistent with the rest of the street. The numbers affected are 172-196. The Council will consider the request. Councillor John Todd also raised the matter recently and said that there was no reason why tarmac should be used at one end of the street while the rest of the street had paving. The situation is reminiscent of the 'paving' war that broke out some years when Hounslow Council started to use asphalt as a cheaper option for repairing pavements. Several streets in Chiswick, starting with Dukes Avenue and surrounding streets, successfully fought to have paving reinstalled. October 22, 2016 |
