Thornton Road and Mayfield Avenue join together for a day of family fun

Thornton / Mayfield Residents' Association hosted a street party last Sunday in with lots of local businesses contributing goodies and prizes for the event.

There were races, a tug of war, a fancy dress parade, a cake competition and a miniature garden competition, followed by karaoke.

Westplay organised children's games and Dr. Bike came along to solves the residents' problems with their bicycles.

The event marked the third annual Street Party which residents claim are now an institution because they prove so popular.

The cake competition was judged by Outsider Tart, who also provided a coffee stall.

Other sponsors included Mackens Butchers (provisions for the BBQ), Sainsbury's, Arts Ed, Wheelers, Cath Kidston, Trotters, Tootsies and Fullers.
