Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed that it is cancelling roadworks due to take place on the A4 this week.

The reason given is that bad weather is forecast meaning that resurfacing work around the Sutton Court Road junction in Chiswick, that was due to take place over night on 16 and 17 January, has been postponed. It would have required a closure of the A4 westbound from Hogarth Roundabout.

This is the latest in a series of postponements due to unforeseen circumstances including rail strikes as well as poor weather. Last week TfL cancelled weekend closures of the M4/A4 eastbound from Junction 2 on the M4 to Hogarth Roundabout that was due to take place on the first two full weekends of January. TfL is still hoping to complete this work, which will still require road closures on a weekend in January or early February.

It says it is working with stakeholders to identify new work dates for the final phase of works at the Cromwell Rail Bridge.
