An emergency repair to a burst water main has meant that Sutton Court Road has been closed southbound near the junction with the A4.

The leak has occurred on 9 December opposite the Methodist Church to the south of Barrowgate Road.

Originally a sign at the work site said the work would be completed on 11 December but this was subsequently changed to 20 December. Neither Thames Water nor Hounslow Council have responded to our request for the likely length of the works.

Traffic is being diverted onto Barrowgate Road and onto the A4 via Dukes Avenue. Drivers wishing to go west on the A4 need to U-turn at Hogarth Roundabout.

Alternative routes to the A4 or the south of Chiswick are via Chiswick Lane or Chiswick Roundabout.

Bus route E3 is on diversion and will southbound buses will miss the stops Chiswick Police Station, Turnham Green Church, Chiswick Town Hall and Barrowgate Road. You are advised to use the stops at Chardin Road or Chesterfield Road. Buses are diverted via Chiswick High Road, Chiswick Lane, Great West Road, Hogarth Lane and Ellesmere Road.

For route 272 buses towards Chiswick will miss the stops Turnham Green Church, Chiswick Town Hall and Barrowgate Road. You are advised to use the stops at Fishers Lane or Chesterfield Road. Buses are diverted via Chiswick High Road, Chiswick Lane, Great West Road, Hogarth Lane and Ellesmere Road.

Thames Water’s project on Acton Lane to repair a burst main overran for several weeks leading to a substantial amount of traffic congestion in the Chiswick area.
