TfL have said that buses are not allowed to be parked overnight on Chiswick High Road, close to the Stamford Brook bus garage.

Residents had brought their complaints to local Councillor John Todd about the practice, which they said caused traffic congestion. This was happening despite an overnight lorry control order which prohibits larger vehicles being allowed to park at night.

One resident told Chiswickw4.com, "For too long TFL and Stamford Brook bus garage have been using the Chiswick High road as its own car park. This means traffic from 6.30pm in the evening to 8 next morning, 7 days a week, has been forced into one lane, and it affects traffic going east and west."

TfL have now replied stating that the buses are not covered by any exemption and are subject to enforcement if they are parked overnight.

A letter to residents from TfL states,"Having liaised with colleagues in Network Management and Parking Enforcement, I can confirm that buses parked on Chiswick High Road are not covered by an exemption, so enforcement can take place if buses are being parked overnight.

"I have passed this to my colleagues in Parking Enforcement, we continue to receive location reports of where overnight parking is occurring, and this area will be added to the list of locations for targeted enforcement."
