Diversions in place as work starts to clean gullies
Overnight drainage maintenance work is underway this week on the M4 between junctions 1 and 3.
The gullies are being cleaned to ensure they remain effective, which will keep journeys safe and reliable. The work will involve overnight closures of the M4 and will be completed on Friday 14 June.
Stephen Hall, Highways Agency Asset Manager said;
“We are maintaining the drainage system on this busy stretch to reduce the likelihood of emergency closures in the future. We have planned the work to be carried out overnight, when traffic flows areJune 5, 2013r>
The work began on Monday 3 June with five overnight closures of the eastbound carriageway. The westbound carriageway will be closed for five nights from Monday 10 June.
A fully signed diversion route is in place via the A312 and A4.
The work will be carried out between 10pm and 5am, Monday to Thursday and between 11pm and 6am on Fridays.
