A volunteer with the lifeboat crew at the RNLI station in Chiswick is featured in a new TV advert being shown across the UK. 39-year-old Holly , is the face of the new campaign which is being broadcast on digital TV channels from this Monday (17 May). The new commercial is appealing for supporters to sign up and donate after what has been a very difficult 12 months for the lifesaving charity. On screen, Holly said, ‘When the pager goes off, I don’t know who will need rescuing…… it could be someone you love, and when we get that call, we’ll answer it.’ After a year like no other, and with the RNLI expecting one of their busiest summers ever, Holly is appealing to supporters to donate just £3 a month, or whatever they can. This will go towards giving volunteers like Holly the right training and the provision of the best kit when they head out in all weathers to save others 24/7. The advert features dramatic, real-life rescue footage and shows the impact of RNLI lifesavers as people are saved and emotionally reunited with family and friends.
Last year, RNLI lifeboats launched 8,239 times assisting 8,374 people saving 239 lives. RNLI lifeguards were just as busy on the beaches keeping people safe, aiding 25,172 people saving 110 lives. This page is sponsored by Rocks Lane who support community initiatives in Chiswick.
