Planners recommend approval of scheme at Daniels Beds site
A scheme to build a six storey building on Chiswick High Road looks set to go ahead with council planners issuing a report in favour of approval. The developers want to knock down the current two storey building at 396-400 Chiswick High Road which is currently the site of the Daniels Beds store and the vacated CarpetRight showroom. In its place they plan to build 34 flats and two retail units at the ground floor level. Under a quarter of the homes would be classed as affordable but the council say an independent third party assessor has determined that this is the maximum achievable at the location. The building will have a three storey front on the High Road with stepped back upper floors. Servicing of the building would take place at the rear in Essex Place. There will be 5 studio flats, 7 one bedroom flats and 22 two bedroom flats in the development, eight of the total will be classed as affordable. The application by Yelloway Ltd, an Isle of Man based company, will be considered at the next Hounslow Council planning meeting which takes place on 9 January 2020. There were four objections to the plan by local residents on the basis of massing and height and the impact on Turnham Green which it will overlook. The West Chiswick and Gunnersbury Society were broadly in favour with some amendments to the design suggested. This proposal would be liable to pay the CIL which is index linked at £396,200 for Hounslow and £118,860 for the Mayor of London. It raises the prospect of a significant amount of development in the area with a new company recently becoming involved with the adjacent Empire House scheme. The System Reference with Hounslow Council for the applicaiton is P/2019/0566 and the Planning Reference is 00248/396-400/P21. December 23, 2019 |
