The property industry press is reporting that Harvey Nichols has decided to put its former Chiswick headquarters up for sale.

Knight Frank has been instructed to market the building at 361-365 Chiswick High Road on the corner of Marlborough Road for an indicative price of £20 million.

Last year, a company associated with the owners of Harvey Nichols applied for and received permission to convert the building to residential use from offices.

The plan was submitted on behalf of Chiswick Estates Ltd, one of the directors of which is Dickson Pearson Guanda Poon who is the son of the owner of Harvey Nichols, Sir Dickson Poon.

Any new owner would inherit this permission which would enable them to build 34 flats including 8 studios and 26 one bedroom units.

The six-storey building currently has 20,000 sq ft of office space as well as 19 flats but the application allows the conversion of the commercial space on the eastern side of the building.

As the approval is for a change of use under permitted development rights there would be no requirement to provide any affordable units.

At the time of the application a spokesperson for Harvey Nichols said it was made ‘to protect the value of the asset and to ensure maximum flexibility during this period of economic uncertainty’.

Harvey Nichols is understood to have transferred the administrative and marketing functions that had previously been carried out at the building to its Knightsbridge site.
