Open Mornings At St Alban's Church |
Everyone is welcome to discuss the restoration work Restoration work on St Alban’s, Acton Green Common has begun and the team are inviting local people to two open mornings on Saturday 6th and 13th February, from 10-12noon to discuss ways of helping out. With fundraising a big priority, anyone who has ideas or experience in this area is particularly helpful. Scaffolding has gone up to repair the roof and solar panels are being installed on the south side. The Rev'd Richard Moy of Christ Church Turnham Green talks about plans to make St Alban's the 'beating heart of the local community' in this chiswickbuzz tv interview -see below. A dedicated chapel area is being set apart for anyone seeking space and sanctuary. A modern heating system is being installed to warm the church to comfortable standards, and toilets and storage facilities are being added.
Over the past year a new 10:30am congregation has been planted into the church under the leadership of Associate Vicar, Revd Mike Tufnell. There have been several community events, a fair on the green in September attended by more than a 1000 local residents, and a popular Friday lunch club for pre-school children has been launched, which will resume again once building works allows. St Alban's is a Church of England church, now part of a family of congregations and church buildings known as Christ Church W4. This includes the popular Christ Church, Turnham Green which now has 800-1000 visits a week for its services, lunch time community cafe, youth groups, Alpha courses, Shelter project and much more besides.
