Local Brownies and Guides Group Needs New Leaders
Volunteers wanted to help support activities for girls
Summer programme of activities about to begin for local girl guides

The 6th Chiswick Brownies, Guides and Rangers have managed to keep activities going through the pandemic by meeting on Zoom.
The group worked hard to keep up morale, with weekly meetings with the girls. From celebrating Lunar new year, to scavenger hunts, to creating puppets , writing letters to staff at Hammersmith Hospital, they’ve kept themselves busy!
They are back to outdoor adventures now, having fun all over Chiswick. They are learning how to play softball, crafting tie-die, designing and making snacks for astronauts and dancing in the rain.
However, now that a full programme of outside activities is planned for the Summer term, the entirely volunteer-led group need more people to come forward to help out.
Recently several long serving volunteers have left the area resulting in vacancies.
Girlguiding has been in existence for 111 years and has face the odd crisis before. During the Second World War guides helped relay messages within MI5, volunteered in hospitals and helped arrange local collections of scrap metals.
A lot has changed over that time with the Brownie hostess badges given out now replaced by a "Grow your Own" badge where girls have a go at gardening, or "performing" badge putting girls in the spotlight, "mindfulness" for Rangers working on their self-care.
The group meet on Tuesday evenings at Chiswick Methodist Church, on Sutton Court Lane. £30 per term for the girls.
They have Brownies aged 7-10, Guides 11-14 and Rangers, 14-18.
