The fire that broke out on Chiswick High Road this Monday afternoon (15 October) has been blamed on a halogen lamp.

Fire investigators believe it fell over and came into contact with a skirting board and flooring in a ground floor bedsit just behind the parade of shops near the HSBC branch by the junction with Sutton Lane North.

The blaze is believed to have started around 4.14pm. Sutton Lane North was closed to allow fire fighters access to the incident. The fire was contained to the bedsit and put out by 4.55pm.

25 fire fighters and four fire engines attended including one which made the relatively short journey from Chiswick fire station as well as from Acton, Southall and Hammersmith.

There have been no reports of any injuries.
