A customer at the Ladbrokes on Chiswick High Road went on a wrecking spree after becoming upset over losing a betting slip that would have won him ten pounds.

The carnage, which was caught on film by staff at the branch, took place this Sunday (30 October). The angry punter grabbed a chair and a stool and used them to smash TV screens and computer equipment as well as damaging the ceiling of the shop.

The staff retreated to the caged area of the branch while they waited for the police to arrive. By the time officers turned up the man had fled the scene.

A Ladbrokes spokesman told The Sun Online, “The customer claimed to have lost a winning ticket for £10 from a bet on a self-service betting terminal, and when a shop colleague tried to assist him, the customer became angry and violent, and proceeded to cause damage to a number of screens in the shop.

"The two colleagues present at the time, retreated to a safe-haven where they activated the staff-guard system and called the police.

"The individual that caused the criminal damage had left the shop by the time the police arrived.

"This was a frightening incident for the two shop colleagues present at the time and our prime concern is with them and providing them with the support they need.

"Our security team are assisting the police with their investigation as they look to find the individual that carried out this crime.”

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police later confirmed 27-year-old Ayman Burale of Glebelands Road, Feltham, was arrested at the scene and charged with criminal damage and theft. He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 27 November.
