Police Drugs Raid Uncovers Cache of Stolen Motorbikes |
Chiswick police say thefts of motorbikes and mopeds have increased
Local Police Officers got more than they bargained for as they executed two warrants to clamp down on the misuse of drugs in Isleworth. Police from Chiswick Neighbourhood Policing Team seized a quantity of cannabis as well as a stolen motorbike when they executed two warrants this week. The team, though based in Chiswick, has a wide area to cover as part of their brief. The motorbike recovered on Wednesday (April 12), a brand new Triumph, has since been reunited with the owner. Also found at one of the addresses was a number of motorbikes and mopeds with their identities removed. At least one of them was believed to have been stolen in Chiswick. Police say this had been done with the use of various tools in connection with hiding the identity of the the two-wheeled vehicles. Chiswick Inspector Steve Edwards said that the theft of two-wheeled bikes, either mopeds or motorbikes, had seen an increase in Chiswick in recent months. He advised people to lock them up safely and secure them with a chain. Inspector Edwards added, "There has been an increase in thefts of two-wheeled vehicles that are often then used for other crimes and we are determined to target those who are involved. "This was exactly what this operation was about, arresting the perpetrators, seizing drugs and recovering stolen vehicles which can be returned to their owners." One man, aged 20, was arrested for possession of drugs and motor vehicle theft offences. April 15, 2017 |
