Police Warn "Be On Guard When Opening Front Doors"

After knife wielding man tries to gain entry to Antrobus Road home

Police are warning residents to be on guard when opening their front doors after an incident in Antrobus Road.

At 9.00pm in Sunday 30th May a resident opened his front door to discover a black male wearing a balaclava and wielding a knife.

The suspect tried unsuccessfully to push his way into the house.

When his path was blocked by the homeowner, he fled empty handed.

SNT officer Rene Biro said, "We have no other information on the suspect at this time. If anyone can help with information they can contact us on 0300 123 12 12 quoting ref: 2517310/10."

She added, "Please use spy holes and chains and if you do not know the person at the door ask for ID's and do not open your door."
