British Transport Police (BTP) detectives are appealing for information after a sexual assault on board a train travelling between Brondesbury and Gunnersbury.

CCTV images have been released of a man who police would like to speak to in connection with the incident, which took place on Tuesday 23th June.

BTP Detective Constable Vicki Bladen said that the incident took place between 9.50am and 10.10am.

“A 16-year-old girl got on the train at Brondesbury and sat opposite a man who was already onboard,” said DC Bladen.

“During the journey the man touched the girl inappropriately before the victim, who was very distressed by the incident, left the train at Gunnersbury station.”

The man followed her off the train, into the waiting room and out of the station. He then tried to engage her in conversation before leaving the station, DC Bladen said.

Detectives have made local enquiries and reviewed CCTV and are now asking for help from the public to identify the man pictured.

“I would urge anyone who recognises this man, or knows anything about what happened, to come forward and contact us,” DC Bladen added.

The man police would like to speak to is Asian and aged in his 40s. He is described as unshaven with black hair and dark eyes.

If you have any information about the incident, or recognise the man in the CCTV images, please contact BTP on Freefone 0800 40 50 40, quoting incident number 225 of 23.6.09 or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Six days before this incident a woman was assaulted on Wellesley Road after leaving Gunnersbury station late at night. No link is being made between the two assaults by the police.
