Chiswick High Road was scene of a shoot out on Saturday night which left a man in need of hospital treatment.

Eye witnesses report seeing two men in pursuit of another man at around 8.15pm from Power Road up towards Chiswick Business Park. One of the chasing pair was seen firing a gun 'wildly'. At least five shots were fired and passers-by were forced to duck for cover.

Police arrived promptly on the scene and cordoned off the area. Chiswick High Road was closed between Oxford Road North and Silver Crescent.

A short time later a man, believed to be aged 32, presented himself to a London hospital with a gun shot wound to the forearm. He was later released from hospital.

The two incidents are believed to be linked.

The men involved were not patrons of the Moran Hotel or the Globe Bar. Neil Millington, Bar Manager at the Globe told us, "We extended the use of our hotel  conference rooms to the Police Force and generally helped to direct residents on how to get back to their homes in the surrounding areas. "

A man was arrested on Monday on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. The 32 year old man from north London, has appeared at Feltham Magistrates' Court, charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. He entered no plea and will appear at Isleworth Crown Court later this year having been remanded in custody.

Detective Sergeant Paul Dempsey said: "I am aware of a 237 bus on the Brentford to Hammersmith route which was near the scene. It is likely that passengers on that bus will have witnessed something, and I need them to come forward."
