Chiswick Police in conjunction with Hounslow Council, carried out a highly successful operation which saw over 60 vehicles known for offences being stopped.

In an exercise, which took place between the hours of 1.00pm and 6.00pm on Wednesday 21st September, Police used an Automatic Number Plate Reading Vehicle (ANPR) to read over 3,000 number plates.

More than 60 vehicles were stopped on the Chiswick High Road with a number of arrests made for crimes including possession of class A drug with intent to supply, possession of bladed article and being a disqualified driver.

There were also numerous traffic offences logged such as no tax, insurance and unregistered vehicles.

Newly appointed Sector Inspector Dave Osborne said "We are very pleased with this operation and are committed to making Chiswick a safer place for those who both live and work in the area.  We will definitely be planning more of these operations in the near future."
