At least seven cars have reportedly been vandalised under cover of darkness in residential streets off Dukes Avenue. One resident has related seeing a dark grey Honda Jazz parked on the left hand side of Hadley Gardens, at the corner of Dukes Avenue, with the passenger side by the pavement last weekend (18 January). Both the driver's side windows had been smashed, with further damage to the bodywork on the driver's side and the rear hatch window. "Apparently a car load of lads/men pulled up alongside some time the previous night, one got out and used a hammer to smash up the car before driving off again", he said. Other witnesses said it was not a theft. There have also been reports of attacks on cars on Wavendon Avenue. One resident said that six cars were vandalised on the road at about 1.50am on last Sunday morning by occupants driving a dark coloured estate car. The car then drove in the direction towards Hadley Gardens. Police have been informed and are viewing videos from local CCTV. Anyone with security cameras in the area who might potentially have footage can inform the police. Or crime can also be reported on the OWL neighbourhood watch link service. January 23, 2020 |
