Chiswick House Lego Model Raises £14,000 So Far

The Lego model fundraising campaign launched in May by Chiswick House Friends has so far raised over £14,000 but they say there is still a long way to go.
Supporters are helping build a two metre-long Lego® brick model of Chiswick House. For every donation a brick is added until the fund-raising target of £75,000 is reached and the model is complete.
People have responded to the appeal with generosity since the first bricks were placed by Clare Balding and the building is taking shape with the help of some little builders who feature in a new video produced to help the campaign.
The financial position of Chiswick House was described by the Friends as ‘desperate’ when they proposed the model of the house as a means of covering the shortfall.
They are posting a daily video of the model’s progress so that you can see what you have achieved.
The income that normally comes from events and other activities at the park has dried up. This week Gifford’s Circus were supposed to be in residence in the gardens bringing in much needed revenue to the Trust. As a charitable organisation, they receive grants from the London Borough of Hounslow and English Heritage but this only covers 25% of the everyday running costs of the estate.

The lost income is due to the cancellation of events and weddings has resulted in a shortfall of £500,000, even after many of the team have been furloughed and costs have been cut wherever possible.
The model is supporting a broader campaign by the Chiswick House and Gardens Trust to raise funds. The Trust has an objective of raising £120,000 by September to cover the running costs of the estate.
