The new cafe in Chiswick House Grounds is set to open its doors at the beginning of February 2010.

Designed by award-winning architects Caruso St John, the new cafe, which is adjacent to the House, will seat up to 80 people with additional outside tables under the covered terrace.

Chiswick House and Gardens Trust have appointed Company of Cooks to run the cafe and provide catering for events that take place within the grounds.

According to their website, Company of Cooks "believe in menus that feature an honest approach, simplicity, seasonality and quality and are passionate about supporting independent, regional growers and producers".

A new playground has also been built adjacent to the Cafe and a range of dishes, including macaroni cheese and fresh orange jelly, 'to refuel exhausted children' will also be on offer.

When asked if dogs will be permitted in the cafe, Trust Director Sarah Finch-Crisp told ChiswickW4.com, "A lot of thought went into the design of the cafe in response to discussions with regular dog walkers in the gardens.

"Dogs will not be allowed actually inside the cafe - but they will be welcome on leads at tables on the covered terrace and surrounding area."

She added, "Company of Cooks run the very popular cafe at Kenwood which attracts a huge number of dog walkers so they are well used to catering for the interests of dog owning visitors."

The 'van' situated on the cricket pitch, which has been serving tea and coffee to grounds goers in the period between cafes, will be leaving at the end of this month.
