'Tell Vanessa' is gaining in popularity and hopes to have a second series
A new television show described as a 'talk show meets reality tv' is currently building up a loyal following and it's filmed in Chiswick. "Tell Vanessa", which is currently airing on Sky television, channel 182 at 10 pm on Tuesdays, features Chiswick-born Vanessa Cruikshank talking to people about issues that affect daily lives. Vanessa attended Hogarth Primary and then the Green School before going to university to study business. She worked as a consultant for the NHS and started her own company. But she had always yearned to be a television presenter and decided to follow her dream. She put together a team, obtained a local sponsor and they have now produced eight shows. Each episode includes four main sections; a topical debate, a business highlight, a viewers’ dilemma, and concludes with some live music. Many of the issues are specific to the black community but Vanessa says the show has a broad appeal and hopes the people of Chiswick will get behind her. Says Vanessa: "Our Facebook page now has over 5000 followers. In addition to this, the number of viewers is also steadily rising. On the airing of the 4th show, 188, 445 viewers tuned in. By the 5th show, we had 190, 225 viewers (excluding online views). Considering that we are not even half way through the season, the potential for growth is outstanding". The shows will continue until September and a second series is planned- the team are now searching for local sponsors. Inspired by Oprah Winfrey, Vanessa says that she hopes to continue with her television success and increase the audiance, both locally and further afield. August 8, 2016
