Actor David Tennant has decided to splash out on additions to his home in Chiswick, applying for permission to build an outdoor swimming pool.

The application has been lodged to Hounslow Council for construction of an exterior swimming pool in the rear garden of his detached home.

The proposed pool is designed to sit below ground level and not be visible by either neighbour when standing in their gardens.

The application states that the pool will be constructed to a high standard and have a series of raised beds for trees. This will
help in shielding the pool and help to bed it into the garden.

A separate application has been made for planning permission for a garden studio and a gym.

Two years ago, the actor ran into hot water with a local resident's group when he and his wife attempted to build another storey onto the two-storey home. They said they needed more space for their growing family.

Hounslow Council turned down the application after agreeing with the West Chiswick & Gunnersbury Society (WCGS) that it would not be appropriate in the conservation area.

The issue was later resolved and an extension was built at the rear of the house instead of the front.

The former Dr Who and Broadchurch star had previously said that he and his wife might have to sell up and leave the area if they were unable to extend their home for their growing family.
