Actress Rula Lenska has been charged with drink driving following an incident in Twickenham in which her car allegedly crashed into a parked vehicle. The Mini car being driven by the 68-year-old Chiswick based actress allegedly collided with the rear of the car in Twickenham at around 7 pm on Monday, pushing it onto the pavement. Her car then flipped over onto its side. According to reports, passers-by rushed over to help right her car and called the emergency services. The doors of the Mini would not open, and Ms. Lenska and a child, believed to be her three year old grandson, were helped to safety through the boot of the car. Ms Lenska was said to be 'shaken' by the incident. Following a breath test, the actress was taken to the police station in Kingston upon Thames and charged with driving a motor vehicle above the legal limit. A statement from the Metropolitan Police said: "Rula Lenska, 68, was today, (Tuesday, 23 February) charged with a drink drive offence, namely driving a motor vehicle above the legal limit." She was bailed to attend Wimbledon Magistrates Court on March 10th. The Chiswick-based actress, who is passionate about wildlife and conservation issues, wrote her memoir three years ago. Miss Lenska has had a long successful acting career including appearances in Alfie Darling (1976) Coronation Street, Calendar Girls and Eastenders. She grew up in England as the daughter of Count Ludwik Maria Lubienski and Countess Elizabeth, who fled Poland for England in 1945. Over the past few years her turbulent marriage to actor Dennis Waterman (Minder) and her time spent in the Big Brother house with politician George Galloway, have made newspaper headlines.
