Chiswick School improves GCSE results again for third year running with:

• 60% achieve 5A* to C at GCSE with English and Maths
• 8% improvement on last year
• 24% achieve new English Bacc, 9% above national average

Another set of improved results at Chiswick last year was confirmed in the performance tables published on 12th January. 24% of students last year achieved the English Bacc which recognises grade C and above in English, Maths, Double Science, a Language and History or Geography. This figure topped other local schools and is 9% above national average.

"These results vindicate our policy of ensuring all of our more academically minded students take a language. The figure would have been significantly higher if we had insisted all students take History or Geography’ said Mr. Whiting, deputy in charge of the curriculum. ‘Where this is right for our students we will encourage this in future. We will also broaden the rather narrow focus of the baccalaureate to include a creative arts or technology subject too. We would also like recognition for our students who pursued more vocational routes and urge the government to introduce a Vocational Bacc , showing achievement in vocational subjects with English and Maths."

"This is a fantastic set of results’, said Head teacher Mr. Ryan. "They are further step on our journey towards becoming an outstanding school. I would like to congratulate again all last year’s students and staff for their achievements."
