Building Schools for the Future (BSF) projects have come under threat from possible spending cuts, after the announcement of a comprehensive spending review by the Department for Education.

On their website the newly formed DoE state, “The Government is committed to a full comprehensive spending review in the autumn and ministers will shortly be considering their spending priorities, which will take into account all areas of spending including school capital.”

Although no decisions have been made, the cuts could potentially affect the redevelopment of Chiswick Community School which was chosen last year by the local education authority as their model for the BSF programme.

Commenting on the matter, a council spokesperson said: “We have received no notification from the Department for Education of any change, and will continue to progress the work to deliver Hounslow’s Building Schools for the Future programme until informed otherwise.”
