Brentford FC has announced that is signing Romeo Beckham on a temporary basis until the end of this season.

David Beckham’s son is making a temporary switch to the Bees from Inter Miami who play in Major League Soccer (MLS) in the US.

The 20-year-old will be part of Neil MacFarlane’s B team squad having played with the reserve side of the American team.

He featured 20 times for Inter Miami II in MLS Next Pro, a development league, and led the division’s assist charts with ten as well as scoring twice.

Previously, he had been with Arsenal’s academy until 2014.

The season is over in the US and Romeo has already been in training at Brentford’s facility on Jersey Road in Isleworth.

He said, "I’m very proud and very happy to be here".

His new coach Neil MacFarlane said, “We’ve been absolutely delighted with Romeo since he arrived with us.

"He came to us from Inter Miami with the aim of working with us during their close season. Romeo has applied himself unbelievably well, he’s really bought into the culture and the group which he has become a big part of.

“I love his standards and the way he conducts himself on and off the pitch.

"He’s been able to get fitter and fitter during his time with us and it leaves him in a good place to now step forward having joined us on loan.

He is described as a very technical player who can shift the ball quickly and cross well, like his father, as well as being a good finisher. He is able to play in a number of positions.

Neil Macfarlane added, "I think it’s testament to us as a club, and as a B team, that Inter Miami have asked us to work with him and trust in us to continue working with him to help him with his development.”

The club is not commenting on suggestions that when its new player asked what his squad number would be, he was told, "Romeo, wear four out there."
