Along with Gaunt and Son Productions, Adam Patient and Sam Butters have formed Tectum Theatre to launch Five-4-Five on 5 June from 7.30pm. The evening will feature five new short plays and costs a fiver with proceeds going to Acting For Others which supports theatre industry workers in need. The plays have been written specifically for the current period of lockdown, and showcase some of the struggles and hilarity that this entails. The cast includes Adjoa Andoh (Invictus, Silent Witness), Annette Badland (Eastenders, RSC), Donna Croll (Eastenders, Doctors), Mali Tudno Jones, Georgia Conlan, Helen Kent, Shaun Pendergast, Stephanie Siadatan, Erin Gergahty, Llinos Daniel and Michelle Mcternan. They will be joined by Julie Graham (Dun Breedin, Benidorm) and Neil Morrissey. The evening will be hosted by Denise Welch. The directors are Rebecca Marangos, Annabelle Hollingdale, Glenn Gaunt, Ben Woodhall & Richard Neale. After the performances there will be panel discussion led by Denice Welch about keeping the arts industry alive. Glenn Gaunt, Artistic Director and Curator of the evening said, ‘I saw a need during this time to bring some unity in a project that is by the arts for the arts during a pandemic which is having a profound effect on our industry. I didn’t want to do a pre-recorded show, because the risk of live theatre is what is so exciting, and bringing that high stakes element to the evening was really important to us. I have been blown away by the response it has received from everyone so far.’ Sam Butters added, ‘’The exceptional talent we have secured is breath-taking, combined with these bespoke plays leaves us really excited for an exceptional night of fundraising for a truly worthy cause.’’ You can book tickets online.
