Following discussion at the Southfield Ward Forum about extending the available usage of the Children’s Playground during wintertime a consultation is being held on the matter.

Ealing Council is consulting with residents living around Acton Green Common and park users about lighting the playground.

The proposal is to install seven new lights to illuminate the children’s playground operating to a time controlled system, from October to March or to keep the playground as it is with no lighting.

The Council believes the extra lighting in parks would encourage extended use of facilities, and provide more natural surveillance.

However these is a concern that encouraging use at night could lead to anti-social behaviour. Also the park is a habitat for the wildlife and artificial light pollution has a proven negative effect on many species

The council would like to know your views on the proposed measures. The locations of the proposed lights are included on a map in the consultation documents.

After considering the proposals you are invited to complete a short survey.

The closing date for this consultation is 1 December 2017.

R will be analysed and reported to your ward councillors who will discuss this issue and decide how to progress at the next Southfield Ward Forum on 6 December 2017 at Southfield Primary School, Southfield Road, Bedford Park W4 1BD.

If you need any further information about this consultation please call 020 8825 5479.
