Staff from The Eye Studio rushed out to help and assisted the teenager into the shop until the ambulance arrived.

In a second incident, only a short distance away just past Dukes Avenue, and in the space of a few minutes, a motorcyclist was thrown off his bike when a driver pulled out from a parked position on the High Road, according to police. Staff from a nearby flower shop came out to assist as he lay on the ground until the ambulance arrived.

It is understood neither suffered life changing injuries. A local police spokesman praised the shops for their help in coming to the assistance of both victims.

There was some disruption to traffic on the High Road for a time.
