Resident's concern over lamppost prompts swift action from Council

A resident was so concerned about the stability of a lamppost on Bath Road that she sent a photo to ChiswickW4.com asking us to highlight what she felt could be an 'accident waiting to happen'.

After the tragic events in February which took the life of baby Tommy Hollis, such concerns are understandable.

The lamp post is sited outside The Tabard Pub close to Turnham Green Tubes station.

A spokesman for Hounslow Council said: "This sign has been inspected and the stability has not been compromised.

"We have asked the works promoter - Scottish & Southern Electricity - to backfill the exposed area around the column with concrete within 24 hours."
