The Christmas Oratorio featuring the Chiswick Choir and Orchestra will take place on Saturday, December 6th, at St Michael & All Angels, Bath Road, W4 1TT, from 7.30pm-9.45pm.
Bach's Christmas Oratorio is the first of 3 great concerts in Alistair Jones's final year with the Chiswick Choir. It is not performed as much as some of his other great works.
The Oratorio consists of 6 Cantatas celebrating the main events and feasts of Christmas, of which 1-4 and 6 will be sung at the concert: The Birth, The Annunciation to the Shepherd, The Adoration of the Shepherds, and The Adoration of the Magi.
Each of the cantatas consists of narrative elements interspersed with glorious solo arias, chorales and choruses.
