Adrian Brown raising funds for Diabetes UK
Adrian Brown from Chiswick is taking on the Morrisons Great North Run on Sunday, 13 September, to raise vital funds for Diabetes UK. Adrian, 36, is currently doing a PhD looking into the use of low calorie formula diets in patients with Type 2 diabetes on Insulin. He says supporting Diabetes UK is essential to ensure that cutting edge research continues into treating and hopefully in the future providing a cure to this devastating condition . He has been training hard for the event and said: I hope to get a similar time as two years ago, of around 1h 31min. Also this hold a special place in my heart as it’s when I met my current partner” The race begins in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and finishes 13.1 miles later in South Shields. Adrian and his fellow Team Diabetes UK runners will be cheered all along the route and will have access to a professional sports massage after crossing the finish line. Claire Lubbock, Diabetes UK Regional Fundraiser for London, said: “Competing in the Great North Run is no mean feat, and requires a lot of training and dedication. We’re really grateful to Adrian for joining Team Diabetes UK and raising vital funds to help people living with diabetes. “The money raised will go a long way towards helping us support the 3.8 million people around the UK who are living with the condition, campaign to improve the quality of care available to them and work to stem the rising tide of diabetes. Our much-needed work wouldn’t be possible without incredible fundraisers, like Adrian. ” August 27, 2015
