Floor The local group, Chiswick Against The Third Runway (CHATR) said; "It is concerning that the DfT has not held a Consultation Event in Chiswick - this is our nearest alternative venue and we are keen that all CHATR supporters and friends and neighbours take this opportunity to let DfT respresentatives feel the scale of the opposition. There will be stalls and officials there and this is your opportunity to voice all the concerns that we raised last year re the hurdles of pollution, noise, climate, etc to DfT. "Many people who have visited other Consultation Events have found there is a strong pro Heathrow bias in the information presented and it is important that officials hear our concerns." A new anti-airport expansion group has been set up by residents of Hounslow and Brentford. Brentford and Hounslow Stop Heathrow Expansion (BASHR3), has been launched in the wake of the government’s National Policy Statement (NPS) consultation on proposals for a northwest runway at Heathrow. There are concerns in the borough about the increased noise, traffic and air pollution – amplified by the recent report by the Commons Environmental Audit Committee, that is critical of the government’s assurances on these issues. Brentford resident Dave Waller has helped set up the new campaign group saying many more lives will be blighted by another flightpath. BASHR3 is urging people to attend the DfT consultation events, and submit their responses. |
